Well It Depends on perspectives…
in my opinion We can see roots of our present days urban planning and cultural elements in Indus velly.
Straight roads, road hierarchy, Drainage along with roads- this is what we prefer these days. straight roads, perpendicular road intersections are our priority.
Although there are more services these days other than drainage…still most of the services goes along main roads.
Western style of commodes: there were similar types of toilets in indus velly .
well established water supply system : from river to fields and till settlement.
concept of public spaces like great bath.
don't know about rainwater harvesting in indus velly. search for that.
zoning in the settlements, social segregation/through planning.
these a subjects we are addressing during planning now a days.May be we have more concerns to take care off but it all started back that time.
