Social Exclusion cannot be stated as purely a result of poverty, but it can be said that it does play a major role. In India, the importance of a person and how well he should be treated is based on the financial well-being of a person. Also, how respectable the profession is also matters. But I strongly believe that it is not purely or even majorly a result of poverty. Though poverty is not as much as in India in other developed and developing countries, we can see beggars all over the world. In countries like the USA, people follow Dignity of Labour. A carpenter is treated equally to a real estate agent over there. In India, menial jobs and jobs involving manual labour are considered lowly professions and are not respected. Few other countries have racial and colour discrimination, but poverty is not a major cause of social exclusion all over the world.
