Answer:

Yes Hitler had a large part to play in starting World War 2 but the seeds for the conflict started long before war broke in 1939. The World War 1 Versailles treaty was such a one sided treaty that it set Germany up for economic failure and contributed to a huge amount of national frustration and revenge. Ideally, Germany should never have signed the Versailles treaty, it would have been better to continue fighting World War 1 with the hope for a just settlement. This option would have spared the the world the millions who later died in the 2nd world war. In my opinion, World War 1 never really ended, Hitler restarted it and with the British evacuation of Dunkirk and the later fall of France, Germany won World War 1. Hitler’s decision to invade Russia, was the real start of the the second world war in Europe. Imperial Japan certainly had a part in starting the second world war in the east by attacking China in 1937.
