<b>In exponential form we can express 16 in terms of - 2 very easily.<b>

Let the required exponent i.e. power be x

So,

(- 2)^x = 16
(- 2)^x = (- 2)^4

Now as the bases of LHS and RHS are equal so their exponents will be equal as well.

The exponent on LHS = The exponent of RHS
x = 4

So
(- 2)^4 = 16

- 2 must be raised to the power 4 to get 16.
