The languages in the 5 states and 3 union territories of South India are (not exhaustive) listed below. I have only included mother-tongue or first languages of people who consider themselves Natives of the South Indian region and have lived there or migrated at least 50–100 years ago. I haven’t included languages which newer migrants speak, since they wouldn’t consider themselves as natives of the region. I haven’t included English too, since although widely spoken is largely a second language.
