Govindachandra was the last discovered ruler of the Chandra kingdom in the empire of Harikela in easterly Bengal.

According to the Tirumalai inscription, during his rule, the kingdom suffered an extensive attack by the Chola king, Rajendra Chola I between 1021–1024 CE. In the inscription, he was recognized as Govindachandra of Vangaladesa. According to Bengali folk stories, Govichandra has given up his royalty to survive the rest of his days as a monk.
