Hey,

Let the number be x. Then

x+2/3 = -11/14 …(1)

The LCM of 3 and 14 is 42, hence (1) becomes

42x + 28 = -33, or

42 x = -33–28 = -61, or

x = -61/42. So you need to add 2/3 to -61/42 to give you -11/14.

Check: 2/3–61/42 = (28–61)/42 = -33/42 = -11/14. Correct.

The answer is -61/42.

Subtract it to find the answer.

First get the LCM which is 42.

Then the equation is.. 33/42 - 28/42 = 5/42 which is your answer.
