To which points does the capillary rise of a liquid happen againt the gravitatoinal force?

thethe height to which capillary action will take water in a uniform circular tube is limited by surface tension and of course gravity. not only does water tend to stick together in drug it stick to glass cloth organic tissues soil and locally to the fibres in a paper towel.
