Answer: In fact, he was so brave that his maternal grandfather Angam declared him the king of Delhi. According to Chola inscriptions, there were five types of 'land gifts' that Chola kings gave to their people: vellanvagai was land for non-Brahmana, peasant proprietors. brahmadeya was land gifted to Brahmanas.

Answer:

Grants and Payments

The Chola rulers granted land to royal officers, Brahmins, temples, and other religious institu tions. Brahmins were given grants of land which were referred to as brahmadeya. These were rent free lands. These brahmadeya lands were looked after by a sabha.

The temples are said to have been the largest landholders during the Chola period. Often entire villages were gifted to temples. These were referred to as devadana. Land donated to Jain institutions was referred to as pallichchandam. Vellanvagai was the land given to non-Brahmin individuals such as the members of the Vellala caste. Shalabhoga was the land given for main tenance of schools.
