Mr. oliver turned to a watchman for help.

He discovered that the person too was faceless with no features or even eyebrows similar to that of the school boy who sat weeping on the rock behind the fir forest.

Ruskin Bond has used several elements to create an retire atmosphere in the story.
In the beginning of the story he created an errie atmosphere by defining the weather to be stromy , strong blowing winds and pine trees making some mysterious sad sounds indicating that something evil was likely to happen. Moreover, the batteries of Oliver 's torch were running down creating an atmosphere of fear and suspense.
With such fearful beginning Ruskin continued to grow suspense in readers by introducing a boy sitting alone and weeping on a rock with his head hung down and holding his face in his hands.
I think the best part of the story where every reader would be stunned , is its climax where the wind blew out the lamp , leaving the readers to imagine what might have happened to oliver.
