1. Plates at our planet's surface move because of the intense heat in the earth's core that causes the molten rock in the mantle layer to move. It moves in a pattern called a convection cell that forms when warm material rises, cools and eventually sink down. As the cooled material sinks down, it is warmed and rises again.

2.An oxbow lake is a U-shaped lake that forms when a wide meander of a river is cut off, creating a free-standing body of water. In south Texas, oxbows left by the Rio Grande are called resacas. In Australia, oxbow lakes are called billabongs. Such lakes are also found in India
