Given :

  • Power of Electric bulb = 60W
  • Time used = 6 hours per day

To Find :

  • Find the units of energy consumed in one day by the bulb ?

Solution :

➣ Power of electric bulb = 60W

➣ 1W = 1000kW

➣ 60W = 1000kW/60W

➣ 60W = 100kW/6W

➣ 60W = 0.06kW

Therefore,

  • Power of electric bulb is 0.06kW.

Now,

  • Energy = Power × Time Taken

➣ Energy = 0.06 kW × 6 h

➣ Energy = 0.36 kWh

➣ Energy = 0.36 'units'

Hence,

  • The Energy consumed by the bulb is 0.36 'units'.

Note :

  • The unit joule is too small and hence is inconvenient to express large quantities of energy. So we use a bigger unit of energy called kilowatt hour (kWh).
