This is indeed a fact that materialism is a growing concern in our society. The love and priority for money, power and other materialistic things leads a person to change, his/her personality changes for the worse.

When children see their parents and relatives become materialistic, its obvious that they too will adopt similar features. They too grow up to be like them. However, innocence and loss of childhood in my opinion, doesn't have much of a link to this directly. Maybe indirectly if affects their minds and shapes their personality but loss of childhood comes when parents are both focused on getting money and do not spend enough time with children.
