Answer:

Cost of the table = $237

Step-by-step explanation:

cost of chair = c

cost of table = t

cost of lamp = l

c + t + l = $562   -----------(i)

c = 4l ---------- (ii)

t = c - 23 -------- (iii)

substituting c = 4l in (iii)

t = 4l - 23 ------(iv)

substituting (ii) and (iv) in (i)

4l + 4l - 23 + l = 562

9l - 23 = 562

9l = 562 + 23

9l = 585

l = 585/9 = 65

cost of lamp, l = $65

substituting l = 65 in (iv)

t = 4(65) - 23 = $237

\bf{\purple{\underline{\bf{Given}}}}

Together a chair, a table, and a lamp cost 562 .The chair cost 4 times as much as the lamp, and the table cost $23 less than the chair.

\bf{\purple{\underline{\bf{To Find}}}}

  • Cost of Table

\bf{\purple{\underline{\bf{Solution}}}}

Let the Price of lamp = 'x'$

Then,

  • ᴀᴄᴄᴏʀᴅɪɴɢ ᴛᴏ ǫᴜᴇsᴛɪᴏɴ :-

Price of Chair = 4x

Price of table = (4x - 23)

Sum of chair, table, lamp = 562

So,

➠ x + 4x + (4x - 23) = 562

➠ 9x - 23 = 562

➠ 9x = 562 + 23

➠ 9x = 585

➠ x = 585/9

x = 65

Hence,

Price of :-

Lamp = x = 65

Chair = 4x = 4×65 = 260

Table = (4x - 23) = (4×65 - 23) = 260 - 23 = 237
