One of the most backward and remote Blocks in Araria district of Bihar, Sikti until October 2017 was an underperforming block with sanitation coverage of a paltry 7.87% while the rest of the district was not much higher at 21.55%. Once the Block Development Officer (BDO), Mr. Shivesh Kumar Singh took charge, there was a dramatic change in sanitation coverage which shot up to 87.31%; while the rest of the district fell behind at 60.42%.
