The Earth continuosly rotate at 1600km/hr, which gives time differences in different parts of earth. The world's standard time is the greenwich mean time. Time of all other countries are either + or - of the GMT, according to the location of the longitudes and latitudes. So, in this case, Japan is 8 hours ahead of Tokyo and London is ahead of New york by 5 hours because of their location wrt to Greenland. So they experience a time change in sunrise and sunset.
