Tolerance and large-heartedness are agreeable humane values which Gaston lacked. Firstly, he didn't evince large-heartedness even to his wife, Jeanne who so much wanted the villa. He had the required money to purchase the villa, but he didn't spend it. It means he didn't care for his wife's wishes and sentiments. Neither did he show any tolerance towards his wife, as he flatly refused he would not buy the villa for the use of her parents and other family members.
Secondly, he didn't show any large-heartedness to both Juliette and Mrs Al Smith. He kept Juliette and Mrs Al Smith in the dark about the purchase and sale of the villa. He didn't tell Juliette the truth about Mrs Al Smith; nor he told Mrs Al Smith the truth about the ownership of the villa. It was highly unethical on his part to hide this truth. He was a man who could take advantage of the situation for financial gains, inconsiderate to the needs and requirements of others.
