\boxed{ 46 }

{\huge{\underline{\sf {\orange{Explanation}}}}}

Let, the initial number of cards in the collection be 'x'

Number of cards he bought = 4

Total cards he has now = x + 4

 \:  \:  \:

The dog ate half of his collection =  \frac{x + 4}{2}

So, collection left with him is also half =  \frac{x + 4}{2}

But, No. of collection cards left = 25

 \:  \:  \:

So,

 \frac{x + 4}{2}  = 25

x + 4 = 50

x = 46
