Length of copper wire = 72 inches

length of steel wire = 42 inches

The largest piece of wire that can be cut from the wires so that each pieces is same is the HCF of 72 and 42.

72 = 2×2×2×3×3

42 = 2×3×7

HCF = 2×3 = 6 inches.

the largest pieces of wire he can cut so that each pieces is the same is 6 inches.
