Let the present age of Tom be X
Let the present age of Jerry be Y
A.T.Q
X= 3y
x-3y= 0 (eq.1)
After 10 years,
(x+10)= 2(y+10)
x+10= 2y+20
x-2y=20-10
x-2y= 10 (eq.2)
By elimination method
subtract both equation
we get,
-y= -10
y= 10
putting the value of y in equation 1
x-3(10)= 0
x-30= 0
x= 30
Tom's age = 30 years
and Jerry's age = 10 years
