Answer:

The Distance travelled by Tom to the neighbouring city per hour = 60 miles.

The Distance travelled by Tom to go back using the same road = 50 miles.

The total amount of time he drove = 5hrs.

Distance from Tom's house to the city he visited = (The Distance travelled to the neighbouring city per hour) × 3 (3 is the amount of time he drove to the neighbouring city) = 180 miles.

(Distance traveled to the city to go back) × 2 (2 is the amount of time he drove to the neighbouring city) = 100 miles.

= Total Distance = 180+100=280.

THUS THE DISTANCE FROM TOMS HOUSE TO THE CITY IS 280 MILES That is 450.616 km.
