Given:

Tony and Joan share 24$ in the ratio 3: 5.

To Find:

How much each gets?

Solution:

Let tony share be = 3x

And Joan share be = 5x

Total money to be shared = 24$

So

Summing up their share must equal to 24$

3x + 5x = 24

8x = 24

x = 3

Tony's share = 3x = 3×3 = 9$

Joan's share = 5x = 5×3 = 15$

Hence, Tony and Joan gets 9$ and 15$ respectively.

Question :

To find share of 24$ to Tony and Joan

Answer :

Given :

  • Ratio is 3:5
  • = 3/8 and 5/8

  • Tony's share =3/8

  • Joan's share = 5/8

We have to multiply the given amount with the respective shares.

\sf\bull \:  \: share \: of \: tony \:  = 24 \times  \frac{3}{8}  \\  \\   \sf \:  =  \frac{72}{8}  \\  \\   =\sf 9

\bullet\sf \:  \: share \: of \: joan \:  = 24 \times  \frac{5}{8}  \\  \\  = \sf \:  \frac{120}{8}  \\  \\  =\sf 15

  • Tony = 9
  • Joan = 15
  • 9+15 = 24

So, Tony gets 9$ and

Joan gets 15$ .
