Given :- tony had 5 1/2 kilograms of sugar. how many cakes can he bake if he will use 1/4 kilogram of sugar per cake ?

Solution :-

given that,

→ Tony had total sugar = 5(1/2) = (11/2) kg.

and, tony make some cakes using (1/4) kg of sugar in each cake .

Let us assume that, total cakes tony makes were x .

Than,

→ Sugar in 1 cake = (1/4)kg .

So,

→ sugar in x such cakes = (1/4) * x = (x/4) kg .

Therefore,

→ Total sugar used in x cakes = Total sugar tony had.

→ (x/4) = (11/2)

cross - Multiply,

→ 2x = 11 * 4

→ 2x = 44

dividing both sides by 2,

→ x = 22. (Ans.)

Hence, tony bake total 22 cakes .
