Answer:

This is a poem about the states of matter.

Do not get bored, leave or scatter.

I want your undivided attention and no chatter.

Let us start with solids – the densest state of matter.

The particles inside a solid have a little freedom to move.

They vibrate in place and do a little groove.

Solids have a definite volume, and shape.

One example could even be a piece of tape.

Liquids have no shape and are the second densest of matter.

They have a definite volume, but cannot shatter.

The particles in a liquid move more freely than a solid.

It is amazing how any type of liquid could fit in a lid.

The least densest state of matter is gas.

The particles move past each other very freely, which is something we learned in science class.

Gas for sure has no definite volume or shape.

It might even come out of an ape.

Solids, liquids and gas are the three states of matter.

Now it is time for me to scatter.

I hope you learned a lot today.

Ms. Andresen will be so happy I must say.

We are the three states of matter, but we don’t act the same.

I can move freely, so what is my name?

I can be all kinds of shapes, and I am the least dense of all

My name is called a gas, and I will not sink or fall

The next state of matter, is everywhere we look

I am the densest of all, one example is a book

You can call me a solid, and I always hold my shape

I can be heavy like a rock, or as light as a piece of tape

The last state of matter, can take all shapes and forms

It can fall from the sky, you have seen it in storms

You can pour it and drink it, and the volume can change

You can stretch me and bend me, it’s really so strange

My name is a liquid, and I like to flow

And here is one more thing, I think you should know

We are all forms of matter, and we are everywhere in sight

And out density depends on, if our atoms are packed tight

Solid, liquid, gas

Are the states of matter,

Are they dense and what’s their shape,

Go the states of matter!

The first one is gas

Which has no mass,

With no definite shape or volume,

Particles move more freely and easily,

Quite enough to fill a container!

As the least dense of matter,

This lesson won’t be a complainer!

The densest state of matter,

A solid has a regular shape and barely any areas to be free!

With a definite volume and shape,

Unless heated or broken,

These particles are vibrating in a certain place!

With particles flowing past each other,

A liquid is the second densest state,

With definite volume,

But no definite shape,

These particles have more freedom then a solid!

When the container and liquid share the same shape,

Not one thing would make this state of matter even better!

I hope you learned a little something,

Maybe a fact or two, but I wrote you something,

A little jingle in fact-

States of Matter,

States of Matter,

Come and learn the states of matter,

In Ms. Andresen’s homeroom class!
