Environmental issues are a matter of concern these days. With the rise of pollution levels and depletion of the ozone layer, all the countries in the world are concerned about the environment. This is mainly because environmental degradation threatens the existence of humankind. Previously, no one even bothered to care about the environment. People were careless about their surroundings. But now, with rising awareness, some of them have become more cautious. The most significant environmental issues of today are global warming and climate change. Very recently, the effect of climate change was discussed at the United Nations. Greta Thunberg, a Swedish climate activist, is currently working in the field of climate change. She is making people aware of its implications on human life. We have written two sample essays here on the topic for the benefit of students in their exams.

(Priya) :- Hey ! It's been long time. How are you ?

(Riya) :- Yeah. Hi ! I'm absolutely fine. How about you ? Hope everything's fine !

(Priya) :- No ! I'm kinda tensed because I didn't do my assignment on 'Environmental Issues'.

(Riya) :- Well, don't be tensed. I have already done a project on 'Environmental Issues'. So I can help you by explaining the topic.

(Priya) :- Thank you so much ! Even I'll try to add something to it.

(Riya) :- Environment problem is becoming a great problem day by day and we aren't considering it. We won't consider it until and unless we are left with nothing. People are not aware of it. And we polluted the environment indiscriminately and yes we are still polluting it without any sense of what are we doing.

(Priya) :- People throw their wastebags here and there. They don't even seperate the waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable. There should be two columns in the bin - biodegradable and non-biodegradable, so as to segregate and dump the wastes according.

(Riya) :- Herbicides, pesticides etc. get eroded into the water bodies and pollute them. This affects the aquatic life and in turn, the ecosystem gets affected. They hunt elephants for their tusks for ivory to make decorative items for boxes, parties etc. They cut cut down millions of trees every day with axe just for our comforting furniture, for making books and paper.

(Priya) :- Refrigerators release CFCs into the atmosphere and this causes the depletion of ozon layer. Global warming too caused because of cutting down the trees without environment sense is a serious threat for the environment and even for us.

(Riya) :- Excessive use of power and electricity drains our valuable resources. Windfarms cause a lot of sound/noise pollution for the people staying near them.

(Priya) :- We need electricity, furniture, paper and other items too that nature provides us. We simply can't imagine a life without them ! What do we do ?

(Riya) :- I agree with you my friend. We aren't aware of the importance of environment. It's true that we can't stop the pollution then and there. But we definitely can lessen it by many ways like recycling the waste, planting saplings, stopping hunting and poaching etc. We should even restrict the use of guns as guns contain lead and other such materials which are very dangerous if not treated properly.

(Priya) :- Yes. Thank you for the information friend. You really made my work easy. It's late and I have to do the project. So, I'm leaving. Bye !
