Given: Cost of 14 pens and 21 books is Rs.130

To Find: Value of p

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of pens be 'x', and

The number of books be 'y'.              Value of P

  So, 14x + 21y = 130                            6x + py = 90

        6x + py  = 90                               p = \frac{90-6x}{y}                   ...(1)

Elimination Method

       42x + 63y = 390                (Dividing the wholeprevious eq. by 3)

       42x + 7py = 630

    (-)       (-)        (-)

___________________

                 y(63-7p) = -240

                y(9-p)     = \frac{-240}{7}

                y(p-9)     = \frac{+240}{7}

Deriving from equation (1) we get

That Value of P is not equal to 9
