Question : Amit earns Rs 16000 per month. He spends 1/4 of his income on food,

3/10 of the remainder on house rent and 5/21 of the remainder on the

education of children. How much money is still left with him ?

Solution : according to question,

⟹ Total earning of Amit = Rs 16000

⟹ Amit spends 1/4 of Rs 16000 on food

= 1/4 * 16000 = 16000/4 = Rs 4000

Now, remaining amount from total earning

= 16000 - 4000 = Rs 12000

⟹ Amit spends 3/10 of Rs 12000 on house rent

= 3/10 * 12000 = 36000/10 = Rs 3600

Now, remaining amount from Rs 12000

= 12000 - 3600 = Rs 8400

⟹ Amit spends 5/21 of Rs 8400 on the

education of children = 5/21 * 8400 = 42000/21 = Rs 2000

Now, remaining amount from Rs 8400

= 8400 - 2000 = Rs 6400

Answer : Hence, Amit has Rs 6400 left after spending on food, rent and education.
