Total Internal Reflection :-

If light passes from an optically denser medium to a rarer medium , then at the interface , the light is partly reflected back into the denser medium and partly refracted to the rarer medium.

This type of reflection is called \small\bold{Total\: Internal\: Reflection}

Total internal reflection refers to the special case where the light gets reflected instead of reflection .

When does it occur ?

The internal reflection takes place when the incident ray is more than the critical angle of the material .

More details :

The total internal reflection takes place when the ray of light passes from denser to rare medium .

During this phenomenon , instead of refraction , the ray of light gets reflected back to the denser medium .

The total internal reflection solely depends on the refractive index and critical angle of the material .
