1. The ray of light should go from denser to rarer medium.
2. The angle of incidence should be greater than the critical angle.
Example:- Mirage in deserts and Looming.

Total Internal reflection is a phenomena in which a light ray reflects back into denser medium when travelling from denser to rarer medium with an angle of incidence greater than the critical angle.
