Correct Question :-

  • Total number of Lions and Peacocks in a zoo is 50. If the Total number of their legs are 140, then find the number of Lions and Peacocks in the zoo.

Answer :-

  • Number of Lions in Zoo = 20
  • Number of Peacocks in Zoo = 30

Given :-

  • Total Number of Lions and Peacocks in Zoo = 50
  • Total Number of Legs of Lions and Peacocks = 120

To Find :-

  • Number of Lions in Zoo = ?
  • Number of Peacocks in Zoo = ?

Explanation :-

Let we Suppose that,

  • No. of Lions in Zoo = x
  • No. of Peacocks in Zoo = y

\bf : \: \implies x + y = 50 \quad .........(1)

As we know,

The Lions have 4 Legs and Peacocks have 2 Legs.

\rm : \: \longrightarrow 4x + 2y = 140

\rm : \: \longrightarrow 2(2x + y) = 140

\rm : \: \longrightarrow 2x + y = \dfrac{140}{2}

\bf : \: \implies 2x + y = 70 \quad .........(2)

Now Subtracting Equation 1 from Equation 2

\rm \implies (2x + y = 70) - (x + y) = 50)

\rm \implies x = 70 - 50

\red { \underline { \boxed { \bf \implies x = 20 }}}

Now Substituting the value of 'x' in Equation 1

\rm \: \implies x + y = 50

\rm \: \implies 20 + y = 50

\rm \: \implies y = 50 - 20

\red { \underline { \boxed { \bf \implies y = 30 }}}

Hence, the Number of Lions and Peacocks in the zoo is 20 and 30 respectively.
