Toto , the monkey was bought of 5 rupees from Tonga driver by grandfather . When he was kept as a secret from grandmother in the narrator's room ,it torn his school blazer into pieces and the wall paper . When grandfather took it with him in train he was asked by ticket checker to pay tax of toto , as he. classified it as a dog. He broke the dishes and created destruction in the house . Grandfather understood that toto should not be kept at home as they would not be able bear regular losses , moreover it could harm family member also. At the end it was sold back to Tonga driver in 2 rupees with 3 rupees loss.
thus, we can say that Toto proved to be an expensive deal for grandfather
