I have $ 50.

How is this balance of $ 1 ?

Ya got $50. Add up your spends left column = $50 Add up your balance right column = $51

ya got $50 and you spend $20 so that would of course leave you with $30.

Now you spend $15 which is half of the $30 so you have $15.

You spend $9 out of the $15 would leave $6 balance.

But then you spend that $6 and you would have nothing left.

Well truth be spoken the question is wrong
Let's take a different scenario
Suppose I have 5₹ and I spent 3₹ leaving 2₹ and then I again spend this remaining 2₹ leaving 0₹
I have 5₹
Spend Balance
3₹. 2₹
2₹. 0₹
______________________
5₹. 2₹
So in this scenario we are able to understand that the remainder will not be equal to the sum of spenditure

Think of it like this
5₹ =3₹ + 2₹
and 2₹ =2₹ + 0₹
So here it is obvious that the spenditure is not expected to add up to the remainder
