India can be called the Jewel of the Indian Ocean.
India has one of the most prominent boundaries connected to the Indian Ocean i.e. the bottom three coasts of India are connected to the ocean.

This prominent location has been very advantageous as:
I. It has opened up trade routes to Africa,East Asia and the West.
II. It has enabled sharing of ideas and cultures from the above mentioned regions through transportation to and from India.
