India achieved Green resolution in 1970 s

Its advantages and disadvantages are as follows--

Advantages--

  • It increases the production of crops.
  • It also increases the wages.

Disadvantages--

  • The use of more ground water decreased the the water level
  • The usage of high quantity of insecticides and pesticides toxicated the plants.

The Green Revolution in India started in the late 1960s. This was the first wave, and its success allowed India to attain food self-sufficiency by the end of the 1970s

Advantages of green revolution are =

  • It allow agriculture operation on large land . It has
  • the ability to grow any crop in anywhere.
  • It eliminate the need to fallow land.

Disadvantage=

  • It employees mono culturing.
  • The usage of a high quantity of pesticides and insecticides incorporated toxicity in the plants.
  • It is because the green revolution programme concentrated mainly on crop with varieties which were very naturally high yielding and did not consider low yielding crop varieties.
