Oxygenated blood moves from the lungs to the left atrium (upper chamber of the heart on the left). The atrium has a thin wall. The blood is collected in the left atrium when the left atrium relaxes. As soon as the left atrium contracts, the left ventricle expands and blood is transferred to the left ventricle.
