During Tue jacobian regime,slavery in the French colonies was abolished.These colonies were good producers of tobacco,indigo,sugar and coffee.Due to less labor slave trade was introduced in the seventeenth century amongst Europe,Africa and Americans.French merchants went to Tue African coast to get slaves.Slave trade started flourishing in the ports around this time.The national assembly had debates on weather these rights of man was to be extended to all of its colonies.But it did not extend this law to its colonies as many people were dependant on slaves and slave trading.
The convention in 1794 abolished slavery but only till Napoleon's rise.Slavery was finally abolished in France and it's colonies in 1848.
