Trace the various steps of digestion in the alimentary canal of man. Discuss the function of liver. Answer this question in a long answer type question.

Function of liver:-

I) storage of Glycogen.

ii) formation of glucose from excess organic acids.

iii) storage of iron.

iv) destruction of some worn-out blood corpuscles

v) secretion of bile.

vi) detoxification of harmful chemicals

vii) elimination of pathogens and foreign particles through phagocytic cells called Kupffer's cells.

Steps of digestion in the alimentary canal of a human:-

i) Ingestion of food in mouth

ii)digestion occurs in stomach

iii)Absorption of nutrients occurs in Small intestine

iv) Assimilation :- absorption by each cell of the body in the form of energy.

v) Egestion :- removing of waste products .

all the functions are done by different different parts of the alimentary canal.
