Firstly only types of individuals are identifying. Animals and plants and two groups are formed which classes are called the animalea and plantae.

After some time some new features are identified some living things are not like a plant and now related with animals so these things are placed in a separate group which is called the fungi.

The kingdom monera and kingdom algae are named later after studied of different features in them.

The kingdom monera is based upon the prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell.

Kingdom algae are based upon their photosynthetic and dimorphic in nature.

So these are many changes occur by time to time and living things divide into five major kingdoms.

first only few types of individual were identified.

As science knowledge about living things has increased, it has been necessary for the two kingdom classification system (plants and animals) proposed by Linnaeus, to be continuously changed to incorporate this new knowledge. ... These organisms didn't fit into the classification system of the time.
