Tradition is an obstacle to progress
Introduction - Tradition and progress are not mutually exclusive . Tradition may look superstitious and primitive sometimes but tradition and progress are equally important but too much of one thing is harmful and which we are doing at the expenses of traditional values by seeing only progress. Traditions are also contradictory of modern science.
For Indian society progress is a watchword. And we can relate science to progress and people are getting more and more comforts from new technology.
Tradition becoming a boon
The things which we follow which is from our past like background , family , ethnic factors , religious things , sect , tribe etc. is basis of tradition .
Progress which brings new technology pose a threat to tradition but traditional things makes human life smooth even if they have some defect.
By eliminating traditions we are not having progress but inclusion of traditions also induces knowledge into us and help us in progress.
Tradition has also given way to globalisation . Progress can only come with intense feelings for a healthy competition and tradition cannot stop progress of any section.
Tradition teach us to accept everyone and to treat all equally.
Tradition becoming a evil
There were many systems like Sati system in which women die with husband. There are many superstitions which were followed in name of tradition that if you sneeze before doing a good work it will result in bad .
Traditions made us so blind that they said us that women should only wear Indian dresses and treat husband's as their God.
Racism can also be said as related to tradition which is now also followed.
How religion can be away from tradition and so politicians are using to have growth in country. But as we know there is a ray of hope and due to efforts of many social reformers , writers have broken many obstacles so the people can took a more freer breath to live in here.
Conclusion
Tradition are the one which reflect fundamentals of society. They are obstacle to progress . But somehow these superstitions and other things make it bad. We should not stick to one side wither of progress or tradition we should find a middle way between they to walk in and balance them.
As we take both equally it will result in a good manner.
