A lay man would say study of science leads us to the higher disciplines of science, viz. engineering, medicine or higher studies of physical, chemical, material or biological sciences. Even though this is true, the core of scientific study is however research and application of our findings in the improvement of the daily lives of and for human beings.
Scientific research and inventions has enabled us to fly aeroplanes, helped in the eradication of deadly diseases, develop better and more productive crops and so on. So, the traditional function of science is to aid in the improvement of human lives.
