Traditional harvesting system is a useful system to conserve and storage water. Best examples are nadis or pond system and polymer kundis.

Nadis or pond system is the system applied in Rajasthan. The rain water flowing after a heavy rainfall flows on sand lattice etc and becom rid of all impurities and is collected into pond like structures and are directly used as drinking water resources.

Kundies are artificially constructed structures which are rectangular in shape with a slope opening. Due to this slope opening all the rain water is collected and stored. This is also mostly practiced in Rajasthan.

Traditional rainwater harvesting system in India include storage of water in Talabs, Kui, Johad, stepwells etc.

As might have seen or noticed by us that it in various areas of Rajasthan and the states around it have structures built which are commonly called as the bawris.

* these traditional water harvesting system were used during the times of floods or drought and proved to be very helpful during the time of acute water shortage.

* these systems are much more economical and eco-friendly as compared to the modern water harvesting systems.
