One of the Traditional methods of irrigation is use of tankas which are small tanks that are found underground. Circular holes are made within the ground. Rain water gets collected into it. These tankas are decorated with tiles to give them attractive look.
Khadlin is also another traditional form. Also known as dhoras. It was designed to harvest the surface run off water for agricultural use.
Ahar pynes is a traditional form which is used to harvest flood water commonly used in South Bihar.
