Train covers the first 160 km of journey = 40 km/hr.

Train covers the next 180 km of journey = 45 km/hr.

Train covers the last 200 km of journey = 50 km/hr.

:. Total time taken = (160 ÷ 40) + (180 ÷ 45) + (200 ÷ 50)

= 4 + 4 + 4

= 12 hrs.

:. Average speed = Total distance travelled

Total time taken

Average speed = 160 + 180 + 200

Average speed = 540
