Retardation=v-u/t

initial velocity(u)=20m/s

final velocity (v)=0m/s

time=10m/s

a=-20/10

a=–2m/s²...

Answer: a=-2m/s^2

Explanation:

Given: u , initial velocity=20m/s

t,time taken=10s

To find: a, retardation

Proof: by using newton first law

v = u+at

0=20+a*10(v=0 because train came in rest after applying the brakes)

thus,-20=10a

a=-2m/s^2
