Train R takes 5 hours less than train S for covering a distance of 750 km. If the average speed of train R is 25 km/h more than that of train S, find the average speed of both the trains

Let say train S speed = S km/hr

Speed Of Train R = S +25 km/Hr

distance = 750 km

time taken = Distance/speed

Time taken by R = 750/(S+25) hr

Time taken by S = 750/S hr

Time taken by R = Time taken by S - 5 hr

750/(S+25) = 750/S - 5

=> 150/(S+25) = 150/S - 1

=> 150S = 150S + 3750 - S^2 -25S

=> S^2 + 25S -3750 = 0

=>S^2 +75S - 50S -3750 = 0

=> S(S+75)-50(S+75) = 0

=> (S-50)(S+75) = 0

S = 50 km/hr

speed of train S = 50 km/hr

speed of train R = 50 +25 = 75 km/hr
