Answer:

Number of passengers when the train started = 450

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of passengers when the Train started = x

Number of passengers who got down in the first half = x/2

Number of passengers in the train = x - x/2 = x/2

Number of passengers who got into the train in the first half = 135

Number of passengers in the train = x/2 + 135

Number of passengers who got down in the second half = 1/3(x/2 + 135)

Number of passengers in the train = (x/2 + 135) - 1/3(x/2 + 135)

Number of passengers who got into the train in the second half = 110

Number of passengers in the train =  (x/2 + 135) - 1/3(x/2 + 135) + 110

Given that;

Number of passengers when the train reached its destination = 350

=> (x/2 + 135) - 1/3(x/2 + 135) + 110 = 350

=> x/2 + 135 - x/6 - 45 + 110 = 350

=> x/2 - x/6 = 350 - 200

=> x/2 - x/6 = 150

=> (3x - x)/6 = 150

=> 2x = 900

=> x = 450
