First of all, what are traits?
Ans - Traits can be defined as the behaviour and response of an organism towards its surroundings, it's feeding habits, habitat, etc.
Some characteristic features of acquired traits as follows :-
- The traits or characteristics of an organism which are not inherited from its ancestors but developed according to its response towards its environment, are called acquired traits.
- The acquired traits of an organism can not be passed on to its future generations (Eg - Cut tail of mouse).
- An acquired trait is experienced by an individual during his lifetime only. It involves changes in non reproductive tissues (somatic cells), which cannot be passed on to the next generation or the progeny.

Behaviors that help an organism survive would also be considered acquired characteristics most of the time. Things like where to hide, what animals to hide from and other behavior like that.
