Geitonogamy(Self-pollination)

.

.

The transfer of pollen grains from the anther of one flower to the stigma of another flower of the same plant is called geitonogamy which is actually a type of self-pollination.

It does not give rise to new varieties of plants.

The characters of parent plant is preserved in such a pollination.

The anther and stigma must mature at same time and should be at the level/height from the ground.
