a ) Manisha commanded me to show her the answer then.

b ) The man asked me whether I had a pen .

c ) Ramesh asked Rakesh where he lived.

The rules to change a direct speech into an indirect speech are as follows :

  • The comma and the double quotations are omitted.

  • The tense of the sentence inside the quotation does not change if the reported verb is in present tense.

  • The tense of the sentence inside the quotation changes accordingly if the reported verb is in past tense.

  • Here in the first case , said becomes commanded as it is an imperative sentence . 'Me' becomes 'her' and 'now' becomes 'then'.

  • In the second case, said becomes asked as it is an interrogative sentence , 'you' becomes 'I' .

  • In the third case , said again becomes asked as it is an interrogative sentence , 'you' becomes 'him'.
