Deforestation made us Loose Forests & Animals

Explanation:

  • Earlier in India, 1980's the forest cover was very well defined, there were dense forests and off this a land was notified as covered under India Forest Act.
  • These land areas, even if devoid of vegetation, were recorded as forest cover, that time almost 72 million hectares were notified as under forestry area.
  • Classification of forests was made depending upon density of greenery-
  1. Very Dense Forests - 70% density of canopy over land
  2. Moderately Dense Forests - 40-70% Density of canopy
  3. Open Land- 10-40% dense canopy under this areas
  • From that period till now, the land cover under canopies have been at a degraded rate of just 7-15% dense forests, owing to the increment in the population, pollution and deforestation by humans.
  • The ecology has been destroyed in order to cover the human needs with respect to shelter, food and several other needs.
